The relentless march of technology means that today’s hard disks have huge amounts of storage capacity – storage up to 1Tb is becoming more and more common.
That’s great while your computer is running well, but what happens if you have a problem with a hard disk drive? It means an expensive computer repair. The sheer amount of data (which can be personal photographs, family videos, or emails or mission critical business information) means that a hard disk crash can be a big problem. Disks can just wear out, or become corrupted due to a virus or memory problem. Not to mention water or heat damage, power surge problems, or accidental damage.
Our advice – hard drives have a limited life, so make sure your important data is well backed up. There are many ways to do this now, including memory sticks, CD-Rom, data DVD, external hard-drives, even offsite storage.
